Diamond Origins
Diamonds are among Earth’s most captivating and remarkable materials, renowned worldwide for their brilliant sparkle, cultural significance, and exceptional physical properties. Composed entirely of carbon atoms structured in a highly organized crystalline lattice known as a diamond cubic structure, a diamond is a solid form of pure carbon created under conditions of extreme heat and immense pressure.
Heat and Pressure
Carbon atoms combined deep within the Earth’s mantle about 100 miles below the surface over millions of years ago under natural heat and pressure.
Journey to Existence
Explosive, deep-seated volcanic eruptions transported the diamonds toward the surface millions of years ago through magma conduits known as kimberlite and lamproite pipes.
Retrieval
Rough stones are extracted through large-scale open-pit, underground, or marine mining operations where kimberlite rock is excavated, crushed and sorted.
Heat and Pressure
Lab-grown diamonds are heated and pressured in controlled laboratory environments that replicate the natural conditions of high heat and pressure. The push for lab-grown diamonds began in the 1940s and 1950s—with General Electric producing the first successful synthesis in 1954 primarily to create durable industrial alternative and cut down reliance on traditional mining.
Journey to Existence
Carbon atoms systematically deposit layer-by-layer onto the seed crystal inside a specialized growth chamber over a period of weeks.
Retrieval
Once the growth cycle completes, the newly formed rough diamond crystal is removed directly from the reactor, ready to be cut and polished without any mining involved.
Which origin is better ?
Origin does not change the structure, hardness or brilliance of the diamond. A diamond is diamond heated naturally or in lab. Both undergoes same cutting, polishing and certification process.
We believe it should be a personal preference just like your ring. Both origins have their own meanings and values. One carries a natural process of millions of years while other gives a greener way to celebrate our milestone.
So the choice is yours and only yours, as we say here at Ringslab.
"Your Ring Your Way."
